Request for Proposal Overview
The Request for Proposal (RFP) process serves to identify speakers for the 2021 Meetings Industry Council (MIC) Educational Conference and Trade Show, scheduled for, June 2, 2021 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, CO.
MIC is excited to provide an exceptional learning experience rich in innovative ideas and solutions for our 1200+ Planner and Supplier attendees.
Speakers will be finalized in April 2021 If you are truly interested in speaking at MIC 2021, please fill out the RFP by March 31, 2020. The Programs Committee will contact you in April 2021. – Thank you for your patience. Stay safe and well.
The Program Committee will consider speakers who submit completed RFP’s and applicants may submit proposals for up to two topics.
Presentation Topics
We seek presenters who share cutting-edge ideas, inspire enlightening discussions and convey the fundamentals for growing our participants’ meetings and events. Hot Topics are identified based on our recent Meeting Professional survey, success of past events, timeliness and relevance of topics to hospitality industry professionals.
Here are the Ten Hot Topics will be looking for this year:
- Creating Authentic, Memorable and Impactful Hybrid Meeting Experiences
- Duty of Care and Risk Management in a Post Pandemic World
- AV/Production/Costs of a hybrid/virtual event
- Designing and Delivering Networking Value & Community in a Virtual or Hybrid Event
- Attendee Acquisition Strategies for Virtual Events
- Productivity Best Practices for Remote Workers
- Virtual and Hybrid Speaker Coaching/Training to Ensure Engaging Experiences
- How to Design Sponsorship and Expo opportunities for Virtual and Hybrid Events
- Navigating Your Career Growth During Challenging Times
- Building Team Trust in a Remote Workplace
Speaker Responsibilities
- Provide high quality and engaging educational presentations for both in-person and virtual audiences.
- Engage attendees through audience participation and discussion (in-person & virtual)
- Provide a headshot, speaker biography, title, 3-4 sentence program description, and three learner outcomes. These items will be used for marketing purposes.
- Ensure the session is not perceived as an infomercial (NO SELLING ALLOWED).
- Promote your participation in the event using social media outlets.
MIC’s Commitment to Selected Presenters:
- Aggressively promote the event, speaker, and subject matter through a variety of 2020-2021 communication vehicles including, but not limited to:
- MIC Event Web Site
- Promotions within the13 MIC member organizations throughout the year
- E-mail announcements
- Event and association social media channels
- Various articles and banner ads in Meetings Magazines
- Coordinate with speaker regarding special equipment and material needs for the event.
- Provide copies of materials for the event participants.
Notification
Your proposal is valued and will be carefully considered by our Program Committee and organizers. The Program Committee will respond to your submission in January 2021. We appreciate all submissions and if you are not selected for this upcoming program, we welcome you to submit again for the following year.
How to Submit

Deadline for submission is March 31, 2021. Please complete application on the next page along with the following:
- Bio (approximately 600 words or less) describing your credentials for speaking on your subject (academic, business, experience, professional training)
- A proposed PR blurb (approximately 150 words or less) which may be used on the website and other training event publicity.
- Three Learner Outcomes
- An outline of your presentation, including presentation style and format. Please describe what the audience will be doing during your program and how they will be involved and engaged with your content.
